Local SEO for San Diego HVAC companies.

When an AC dies in July, the homeowner calls one of the three companies in the map pack. I measure where you show up across your service area, then work to put you in those three.

No long contracts. You talk to Simon.

How I do local SEO for HVAC

Scientific SEO

  1. 1 Measure I run a rank grid for AC repair, furnace repair and installation in every city you serve.
  2. 2 Change one thing I make one change at a time, so you know what it did.
  3. 3 Measure again I rerun those searches from the same points two weeks later.
  4. 4 Keep what works I keep what worked and undo what didn't.

What the work covers

Local SEO for HVAC, in plain English

Local SEO puts an HVAC company in front of someone nearby who is searching for AC repair, furnace repair or a new system, in the map results and in the listings under them. For most San Diego HVAC companies the map pack, the three businesses Google shows with a map, is where the calls come from.

Why you rank near your office and nowhere else

Google’s local results take into account how far each business is from the person searching. A company based in Kearny Mesa can be first on the map in Kearny Mesa and invisible in Carlsbad, even though its trucks are in Carlsbad every day.

A single ranking check from your office hides this. A rank grid shows it: the same search run from dozens of points across the county, so you can see exactly where you appear and where you drop off.

What moves an HVAC company up the map

Start with your Google Business Profile: the right primary category, every service you offer listed by name, an accurate service area, and photos of real jobs.

Reviews are next: how many you have and how recent they are, whether customers mention the service and the city, and whether you reply to them.

The website is the other large piece. It needs a clear page for each service and each city you serve, with your business name, phone number and service area written exactly as they appear everywhere else online. A city page earns its place only when it says something specific about the work you do there.

Why I change one thing at a time

If an agency changes ten things in a month and your rankings move, nobody can say which change did it, and you keep paying for all ten. I measure, change one thing, and measure again on the same grid.

Where AI answers fit in

The question of who to call now goes to AI assistants as well as to Google. Those assistants lean on the same signals as the map: your Google Business Profile, your reviews, and facts about your business that match wherever they appear. I test what they say about HVAC companies in your cities and include it in the same report as your rankings and calls.

Where paid leads fit while this builds

Local SEO doesn’t replace every paid call on day one. Many HVAC companies run Local Services Ads, buy shared leads, or both. I look at what each of those calls costs and keep the ones that pay for themselves while the map pack and organic calls grow.

As the grid fills in across your service area, the paid budget can come down, starting with the shared leads that several other companies also received.

How long does local SEO take for an HVAC company?

It depends on where you start and who you're up against in each city, and anyone who gives you a date before measuring is guessing. Map pack positions often move before organic rankings do, and Google Business Profile fixes tend to show first. I measure your starting grid and set out what I expect. Then you watch the same grid change, one change at a time, with each change measured again two weeks later.

Do I need a page for every city I serve?

Only for cities you really serve and can say something specific about: the jobs you do there, the neighborhoods, the housing stock and the equipment you see. A page that swaps the city name and nothing else doesn't help and can hurt. I build city pages where the rank grid shows a gap worth closing.

Can you help with Local Services Ads?

Yes. Local Services Ads and Google Ads buy calls today, and local SEO builds the calls you don't pay for one lead at a time. I manage them together, so the ad budget can come down as those calls grow.

Will AI assistants recommend my HVAC company?

I can't guarantee it, and neither can anyone else. The names differ between assistants and can change from one day to the next. I ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews the questions your customers ask, and record which companies they name and which sources they cite. Then I work on what those answers draw on: a complete Google Business Profile, consistent business facts, real reviews and pages that each answer a single question clearly.

Find out where your HVAC company ranks.

List the cities you serve and you get back where you rank in each one for AC and furnace repair. Recommendations come only after you have seen that.
