Most AI SEO being sold is a new label on an old package. Mine starts with the questions your customers ask an assistant and a record of who gets named, before anything on your site changes.
No long contracts. You talk to Simon.

Scientific SEO
AI SEO services, as I sell them, are a measurement of what AI assistants and Google’s AI answers say about your business, followed by changes to the things that decide whether it gets named. I offer this to San Diego County home-service companies, and I run it the way I run everything else: measure, change one thing, measure again, keep what works. The term spans both halves of AI visibility, which are AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization).
The steps run in this order.
What an assistant says changes from one assistant to the next and from one day to the next, and no one can guarantee it. So there’s no promised recommendation, no promised position in an answer, no date by which answers will change, and no assurance that a competitor will stop being named. You pay for an accurate picture and careful changes, with an honest record of their effect.
Before you sign with any agency, including me, ask which prompts it ran for your business. Ask to see the recorded answers from before and after, and ask which single change it credits for the difference. An agency that tested its work can answer in a few minutes. A proposal that lists a monthly number of blog posts and the phrase “AI optimized” can’t.
If your Google Business Profile lists the wrong services, or your phone number differs between your site and your listings, the gap is ordinary local SEO work and I call it that. Fixing it helps your map pack position and your AI answers at the same time, so you have no need for two programs that do the same job.
I do. I have 17 years in SEO and degrees in electrical and computer engineering, and I was born and raised in San Diego. You talk to me directly, with no account manager in between. If the baseline shows you’re already named where it counts, you’ll hear that from me too. There are no long contracts.
Every engagement starts and ends with the same measurement.

Mostly no. The things that help an AI assistant name your company are largely the things that help you in the map pack: an accurate Google Business Profile, matching business facts, real reviews and clear pages. The part that is new is the measurement, which means running prompts and recording answers. I do both as one piece of work with one report.
That's outside what I or any agency can promise. What you get is a record: what ChatGPT and other assistants say today when asked about your trade in your cities, the likely reasons, the one thing I changed, and whether the answers moved. You judge the service on that record.
It depends on how the assistant gets its information. One that searches the web when answering can pick up a corrected page or listing once that page has been re-read. One answering from what it learned in training won't change until a newer model is released. I can't give you a date for either, so I ask the same prompts again and report what moved and what didn't, in the same report as your rankings and calls.
Ask your current company first. If they can show you the prompts they ran, the answers they recorded and what they changed as a result, you're covered. If the answer is a slide about trends, the work isn't being done.
Send me your trade and service area, and I'll run the prompts and show you the answers before recommending any work.
