Search Engine Journal Reveals New Data on Industry Growth in Latest State of SEO Report

The SEO industry continued to grow in 2022 despite constant changes and economic problems, according to a 54-page report published by online news and media publisher Search Engine Journal. The data revealed that not only did the industry experience an influx of new practitioners, 58% also reported higher ROI and increased budgets.

The findings are based on Search Engine Journal’s Second Annual SEO Survey, which asked 3,623 freelance, agency and in-house SEO professionals about their careers, budgets, priorities and the year ahead.

“More than half of SEO professionals in the agency have increased their budgets this year. Another 56% of all SEO professionals surveyed expect to increase their budgets in 2023, so our data shows little sign of slowing,” explained Loren Baker, founder and owner of Search Engine Journal. “Businesses relied on web searches during COVID at the time Now, they’re using SEO to build a strong foundation and sustain that momentum as they prepare for the challenges ahead.”
